DESERT WINDS

2024

Gusts of wind curl and swoop their way along the corridor, paying homage to the breeze that often blankets the Las Vegas valley.

ARTIST’S INSIGHT: This sculpture, which spans the main corridor of the new Silverado Ranch Community Center, reflects the perpetual swirling winds of Las Vegas that sweep down from the surrounding mountains and across the valley. The implied motion also aims to mirror the active environment of the Community Center. The 2nd floor running track offers a unique view, with moiré patterns appearing and shifting as the viewer makes their way around the sculpture. These abstracted elements could also be interpreted as waves or clouds, allowing each viewer to create their own narrative.
